What do we mean by Ascension?
The language associated with spirituality has become very confused and quite difficult to understand, specifically because much of it was created at the end of the 19th century when terms such "initiation" and "discipleship" were used.
These and related terms had connotations of secrecy and a hierarchy of spirituality which propagated the "Spiritual Top-Dog or "I am holier than thou" attitude which is not an accurate representation of the spiritual model today. In modern days, the term "lightworker" is preferred to the terms of “initiate” or “disciple”; a lightworker is simply an individual who is seeking an understanding of spirituality while growing on the spiritual level.
Because we are at a unique time in human history where the consciousness of individuals, and humanity at large, is expanding to new heights at such rapid rates, we are in need of a different language to describe the spiritual growth process. The expression “ascension” is now frequently used to describe the movement of spiritual progression.
Ascension, consciousness raising, increasing vibrational frequency, spiritual development are terms which are all synonymous with each other. In these writings we interchange the terms "ascension and raising consciousness" as appropriate. Other spiritual terms will be clarified as used in the writings we publish as well as in the development projects that we offer.
The first step in the ascension process includes taking care of the physical body. Good diet, exercise, rest and avoiding the intake of damaging poisons like drugs and alcohol are of primary importance to successful spiritual development.
To further support the ascension process it is also important to study and read appropriate literature as well as attend appropriate spiritual group activities as doing so naturally raises consciousness. The person begins to have a different view on reality and is opening up to possibilities of the infinite.
Personal or spiritual growth also includes clearing what has been called the "negative ego". This involves letting go of the negative aspects of the personality such as fears, resentments and past conditioning. These negative personality aspects often prevent our growth by acting as energetic blockages.
What is the best and most effective way of releasing the “negative ego”? By working with a teacher or guide, attending appropriate spiritual groups as well as working with others. Also of significance in the process of cleansing negative personality aspects is the development and practicing of kindness towards others as well as ourselves.
Other critical tools in the process of consciousness raising are meditation and visualization exercises. These exercises serve to quiet the mind which allows the creation of “space”. In addition, these tools help us move from identification with the physical body and contents of the mind to moving our focus to the activation of our Heart Energies. The activation of our Heart Energies not only aid in developing self-discipline, forgiveness, kindness, love and happiness, but it also starts the fulfillment of our soul's purpose in this incarnation.
The sum result of these processes is a significant increase in joy, bliss, and peace - which in this troubled world is reward enough in itself.
